Albatros
This is the team mascot for the Professional
Basketball team, Alba, in Berlin Germany.
We attended the game as guests of Justin and Clair Bean.
The mascot is an Albatros - a sea bird
located in downtown Berlin about an hour
from our apartment.
We had front row seats. Justin Bean is a power forward
for the team so we had the best seats in the house!

During the game, the spectators would cheer
"Bean, Bean, Bean, Bean"
This is Logan Bean. He is their two year
old son. Since Justin played basketball
at Utah State University (our hometown), they
named their firstborn Logan!
Gary, Clair Bean, and Suzy Stein.
We are all in the same ward together.
This is the final score. Alba Berlin won the game and
Justin was the second highest scorer.
Logan clapping over the win. I realized how
much I miss my grandkids when I spent
some time with this cutie.
Logan is holding a cardboard fan.
Everyone in the arena gets a piece of heavy
paper that is folded into a fan. Then,
during the game, the fan is used to make
noise-a lot of noise by hitting your hand or
the seat.
The fans (both types) make the Uber Arena
a great place to play and a hard place for the
opposing team to play in.
After the game, all the Alba players take time to sign
autographs and shake hands with the spectators.

Logan was my buddy during the game.
We are also fans of Justin's.
Justin is 6 feet 4 inches and looks short next
to his team mate.

Game time
One of the days this week we ate at the train station
in a Subway. Luckily, the recipe's are pretty standard
from country to country so it tasted great.
The food court also had this as an option.
We were NOT EVEN tempted.
cleaned out the Lobby closet. We found this
sorta cool coat and convinced Elder Wimmer
to try it on. The arm length was not right but
the girth was okay...
There are SO MANY cool structures in Berlin. We love
this building which spans the bridge across the river.
Unfortunately, there is also a lot of graffiti.
I drove Sister Wimmer to a fabric store in downtown
Berlin so she could buy some white fabric to make
some baptismal pants. We have a few smaller
sizes but none for the larger men. It was so fun to be
in a fabric store and I thought of all my friends who
I quilt with. I miss you all so much!!
